On this Blog, I will post interesting things, concepts, and ideas encountered while living in Japan. What is accepted as fact in one culture may be interpreted differently by others. This can be a certain way to do things, an accepted “look & feel”, or an established concept.
Unbounded by these rules, new possibilities emerge. This is especially true in Japan, and can be seen in:
- product designs
- manufacturing processes
- means of distribution
- advertising and marketing methods.
By living outside my home “world” for the past 10 years and frequently traveling back and forth to the USA, I’ve been able to witness these differences in methodologies between two great cultures first hand. Some obvious, some sublime, but all are important in helping us see beyond the preconcieved rules.
This insight is the enabler of invention and innovation. I hope these blog entries will be the catalyst to spark imaginitive minds everywhere. Enjoy!
