Living in Singapore, you don’t need to go far to escape the turmoil happening in the world. We should be in Japan now, but we thought best to let things stabilize before visiting. Our hearts go out to our friends and family struggling through some really hard times.
We needed a few days to recharge, so we decided to try Nikoi Island, a private island about 30 minutes off the coast of Bintan, Indonesia.
Nikoi is truly “down to Earth”, eco tourism at its best. It has beautiful white sand beaches, coral reefs, and a rainforest that’s home to large Banyan trees and many species of birds. Nikoi is all about sustainable living, nearly everything is grown, made, recycled, and built from materials on the island. There are no phones, TV, internet, or even electricity (except generator power for basics like LED lights!) There are only 15 beach houses for guests, so reservations are very difficult. It was definitely a vacation to remember!
