Ok… I know a geeky post, but here are our first attempts at astrophotography with Phoebe’s telescope! Top photo is the Eta Carinae Nebula. You can see the dusty nebulous clouds (very faint) surrounding the star Eta Carina in the top right hand corner, along with clusters of newly formed stars. Need to try a longer exposure next time.
The bottom photo is Jupiter. You can see cloud bands, along with two moons (out of 63 moons!). This was taken with a webcam connected to the telescope. Created a short movie, selected the best 200 frames, then stacked them together.
Both photos were taken from our apartment windows. Lots of good sights without even going outside!
Hopefully we can hone our technique, always up to a challenge!
